Ayfer Gursoz (1935–2008) was born in Istanbul and moved to Old Montreal, Canada in 1982. A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, winner of the silver medal at the Universal Exhibition of Painting in Budapest, Ayfer taught at the Urdang Academy in London. Ayfer also taught at the Urdang Academy in London. Since her arrival in Canada, she has exhibited at Ludovic and Art Lender and Bellefeuille Galleries. Some of her works are part of the works loaned by the National Gallery of Canada. Ayfer Gursoz was represented by Century Art Gallery and exhibited in New York, Chicago, Atlanta and California, from 1990 – 1992. "It was the vibrant colors I saw in the landscape paintings of a friend of mine who was showing in Europe that brought me to Quebec. I couldn't believe that such colors could exist. 'Go to Quebec', he told me, 'you'll see.'
