Antique bronze statue of Antinous of Belvedere who was a close friend or lover of Emperor Hadrian. After his untimely death, Hadrian deified him. A striking figure, standing in the nude with severed arms, wearing only a loincloth over his left shoulder. Exceptionally fine casting, unsigned, standing 15.25" high x 5" wide x 5" deep on a 4.75" circular base. The figure has fabulous detailing and wonderful Patina, Italian, 19th century.
