Gallery wrapped, finished sides, circa 2014. Benjamin Rankin is an internationally recognized Conceptual Fine Artist based in Montreal, Canada. Living in many countries and being a practicing Architect have been two major influences in the development of his artistic practice. In 2012, he completed an MFA degree at the Glasgow School of Art. Benjamin maintains “Through painting, I create images composed of strong colorful geometric shapes and patterns which re-frame the subject. Photographic source material is used as a starting point. The deconstruction and recreation of the image transform the qualities of the subject. Something unpleasant may become joyful, the serene rendered chaotic and the dramatic revived as comedy.”
