Wonderful figural face porcelain teapot and lid folk art piece, beautifully handcrafted and painted with great detailing, signed by renowned artist Irina Zaytceva; circa 1999; approximate size: 12" high x 8 x 7. Irina Zaytceva was born in Moscow, Russia. She graduated from the prestigious Moscow Art Institute in 1982 with a B.A. and M.F.A. in book illustration. Having illustrated a number of children's books, Irina found that her love for sculpting offered a wider range of expressing her artistic views. Porcelain had a particular attraction for her for all its historical importance, as well as the finer grain it offered as opposed to other ceramics. Irina developed several unique techniques never been used before, setting fewer limits to her creativity. Her ceramic sculptures can be seen in numerous museums in the United States as well as abroad, most notably at the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. All of Irina's works.
