Berne studied at the Central Technical School of Art in Toronto under Carl Schaefer and Peter Haworth. He worked in commercial arts and later studied in London and Paris with Abstract Expressionist Paul André. He is known for his Montreal and Toronto Street scenes, Québec landscapes and farm scenes. Sydney exhibited frequently between the years 1962 and 1972. *Minor stain on matting.
