This piece was created to be reproduced for a limited edition collection. However never put into production. So truly a real "one of a kind" the artist Andrew Plum, created an artwork using artificial butterflies and different sized colored dot shapes along with acrylic paint and gesso. The intention here is a chaotic play on the butterfly and dot works by world famous artist Damien Hirst. Hence the name in the title "Damien's Dream" mixed media on canvas; this work is signed and dated "PLUM 2010" recto and verso of the canvas; canvas measures: 40" x 40" x 1" frame 42" x 42" x 2"; minor losses to a few of the butterflies wings. Andrew Plum was born in Lancashire, England in 1965 and moved to Canada at the age of 21. His long association with the art and antiquities business, particularly with Asian antiques, influences Plum's work. His vibrant paintings are characterized by sensuous use of color and pallet work.
