Beautiful Museum Quality Tiffany & Co. tea set comprising three vessels in the "Persian" style with lush chased repousse arabesques and floral decorations, ribbon banded handles and spouts with twisted flute junctures. Approx. measurements: Teapot 8 3/4" high x 8.5" spout to handle x 3.5" diameter; gilt interior cream pitcher 5 3/4" high x 2.75" spout to handle x 2.75" diameter and sugar bowl, 5" high x 6.5" handle to handle x 3.5" diameter. Interlaced ribbon monogram on bases. 66.76 OT. This set illustrated in "Magnificent Tiffany Silver" by John Loring, page 147. The caption under the illustration in Loring’s book states that this set is made from a design stamped on July 29, 1887. Its basic shapes are those of the Persian tea set made for the 1876 Philadelphia Exhibition while its decor is of the family of Edward C. Moore’s lavish Saracenic pieces shown at the 1889 Paris Exposition.
