(Charles-Octave Levy, 1820 - 1899, French), depicting a bare-chested man with a glass lantern suspended from his belt, holding a pick axe and standing on an integral rocky base, on a square stone plinth, the bronze alone, signed on the base; Signed C H Levy, inscribed Mineur par C H Levy, Salon des Beaux-arts, with seal Bronze garanti au titre. Charles Octave Levy was a pupil of Armand Toussaint (1806-1862). He exhibited at the French Salon from 1873 to 1898 and won the third-class prize in 1889.
